"Death came to Mrs. Mary Becker of Cooperstown at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Coon, at Toddsville, Thursday morning the 24th inst. after an illness of several weeks, following an operation which she underwent several months ago. Born at Springfield January 31st, 1846, the eldest daughter and last survivor of the family of the late Dewitt and Mary Heath Coleman, she was united in marriage at the Christ church by the Rev. Henry Synet, September 8th, 1864, with George E. Becker, who died September 14th, 1913. Their married life was passed at Cooperstown ... Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Coon of Toddsville and Mrs. Lucy Briggs of Cooperstown; four grandchildren Charles Briggs of Utica, Lawrence Briggs of Ilion, Mrs. Mary Roberts of Ogdensburg and George Coon Hornell; also two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, to all of whom many expressions of sympathy are extended in this hour of bereavement. Funeral services were held at her late home, Sunday, the 27th, at 2 p.m. the Rev. Father Miles Lowell Yates of Cooperstown officiating. Interment at Fly Creek Valley cemetery.
