Beloved Houlka Woman Dies

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Houlka Church of the Nazarene, for Mrs. Hester Almedia Young Collums, who died Saturday at the Pontotoc Community Hospital following a short illness. She was 71, and was born in Pontotoc county, the daughter of the late John A Young and Eliza Jane Mitchell Young.

She was one of Houlka's most loved Christian women and faithful to her church, the Houlka Church of the Nazarene. On leaving for the hospital, she remarked to her children, "Pray that God's Will be done."

The Rev. N Oscar Nabors, assisted by the Rev. Oren Vance and the Rev. Bob Posey, officiated. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Houlka National Funeral Home in charge.

She is survived by her husband, Webb Collums, Sr.; six sons, Alvin and Webb, Jr., of Houlka; Wayne of Pontotoc, Clinton and Dudley of Memphis, and Dennis of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Erlene Tollison of Holly Springs and Mrs. Marjorie Faulks of Robertsdale, Ala.; four sisters, Mrs. Nora Patterson, Mrs. Dave Westmoreland, and Mrs. Tempie Lantrip, all of Houlka, and Mrs. Martha Jane Mask of Darling, Miss. Twenty-six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were: Sam and David Westmoreland, Britt Gordon, David Wiggs, R G Brown and Dan Sims.

Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl White, Mrs. Dennis Woods and Mr. and Mrs. Amos McGregory of Marks, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson and Mrs. Martha Jan Mask of Darling, Mr. and Mrs. Cy Puckett of Lambert; Mr. and Mrs. W R Turner, Mrs. Mildred Hill and son, Bobby of Memphis; Mr. and Mrs. George Young and Jim Young of Pontotoc; the Rev. and Mrs. James Lucius of Thaxton, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fisher and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cox of Okolona, and the Rev. and Mrs. W F Rodgers and the Rev. and Mrs. Flenoy Clark of Houston.
