Houlka – Services for Alvin Adam Collums, 89, who died on May 10, 2002, at Baptist Memorial in Oxford were held Monday at Houlka First Baptist Church with the Revs. David Blackwell and Jonathan Childress officiating.

Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Houlka Funeral Home.

He was born on July 14, 1912, in Chickasaw County, the son of Almedia Young and Carrol Webster Collums.

He was the retired owner of the City Café in Houlka. He was also a cattleman and worked for the Department and the Chickasaw County School system. He was a member of Houlka First Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Houlka Lion's Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances McLaughlin Collums (whom he married Oct. 6, 1933 per their wedding announcement in the Oct. 19, 1933 issue); six brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by one son, William Alvin Collums and his wife, Frances, both of Houlka; one brother, Clinton Collums and his wife, Earline, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and one sister, Margie Fay Gandy and her husband, Jimmy, both of Mobile, Ala.

Pallbearers were Richard Chrestman, Carl Daniel, Ken Westmoreland, Tommy Dendy, Tommy Washington and D L Winter.

Memorials may be made to Houlka First Baptist Church.
