Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Wadell S. and Celeste Truesdale Collins. Mrs. Barefoot was a retired credit analyst for General Wholesale Distributors and a member of Taylors First Baptist Church, where she had served on the Finance and Deacon Nominating Committees. She was also an active participant in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry of the church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Eric C. and Debbie Barefoot of Greer and Alex C. and Elizabeth Barefoot of Columbia; a sister, Mary Celeste Elliott of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Jason, Erika, Brittany and Nathan Barefoot. A brother, Aubrey Collins, predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Taylors First Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Page and Dr. Jimmie Harley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Gathering Area of the church.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorials be made to the Taylors First Baptist Church, Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 6, Taylors, SC 29687. - The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
