Marie Alldredge (Collins), 88, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2010, at the Evansville Protestant Home with her daughter, Kay, at her side. Marie had a wonderful disposition and a friendly smile and will be greatly missed.

Marie was one of six children born on August 25th, 1921, in Wickliffe, IN to Fred and Marie Collins (Bledsoe). She was raised in rural French Lick, IN, and graduated from Cuzco High School, in Cuzco, IN, in 1938 and went on to attend Canterbury College in Danville, IL, earning a teaching degree.

Marie worked at Republic Aviation in Evansville during World War II. Following her marriage to Glen W. Alldredge, of Mt. Vernon, IN, she traveled throughout the U.S. as Glen worked as a traveling auditor for the Federal Government. Marie and Glen eventually settled in Springfield, IL, where her teaching career lasted more than 2 decades. Marie enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts and playing bridge.

Marie and Glen moved back to Indiana in 1995. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Howard Collins, Paul Collins and Vera Collins of French Lick; Vada Dugan of Evansville and Georgia Hanger-Gerber of Clearwater, FL. Glen passed in October of 2007, after 58 years of marriage. She is survived by her son James Alldredge; her daughter Kay McAtee; and her son-in-law Mike. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Joyce Collins.

There will be a viewing for Marie from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue

Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (EST) (12:00 Noon CST) at Cane Creek Christian Church in French Lick, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
