MADISON/FENNIMORE- Jason P. Collins, age 33, left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, following a 20 year battle with non Hodgkins lymphoma. Jason was born in Lancaster on Jan. 6, 1973, the son of John and Rosemary (Bryhan) Collins.
He spent his childhood in Mount Hope and was part of the graduating class of 1991 from Lena-Winslow High School in Lena, Ill. Jason entered the United States Army in 1995 as a cannon fire directions specialist. Following the service, he was employed for several years in the construction field.
On Dec. 4, 2004, he was united in marriage to Misty Lee (Damon) Mann of Middleton. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed his work most of all. Jason's favorite things were his Harley, his dog, Tyson, snowmobiling, hunting, playing joker with his grandparents, and taking trips to the Upper Peninsula to photograph the fall colors.
Jason is survived by his wife, Misty of Madison; parents; brother, Jeremiah; sister, Melissa, all of Fennimore; grandparents, Richard and Irene Bryhan of Lancaster; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Collins from Mount Hope.
Funeral service will be held at LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE LIVING CHRIST, 110 N. Gammon Road in Madison on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. with the Reverend Daniel C. Kowert presiding. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church. A second visitation will be held at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1075 Adams Street, in Fennimore, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A second funeral service will be held at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1075 Adams Street, in Fennimore, on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend David Froemming presiding. Burial will follow the service on Thursday at Prairie Cemetery.
