STRUTHERS - Services will be held on Saturday morning 9:30 A.M. at the Clemente Funeral Home, with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers for Melvin “Bud” Collingwood, 77, of Struthers who passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic.

Bud was the owner of BC Heating & Air Conditioning, prior to that, he worked as a sheet metal worker for Docherty & Mitchell. He was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School in 1956, where he was also crowned Prom King. He was a hard worker and proud business owner.

His loves in life were his family, friends, fast cars, Ohio State Football and Disney World. Bud enjoyed racing stock cars at the Canfield Speedway, winning many races. He was a NASCAR enthusiast attending a number of races. He enjoyed watching Ohio State games both in person and from home. His friends and family have many fond memories from the yearly trips to Disney World. He was able to enjoy Disney with his children and his grandchildren. He also met new lifelong friends there. Bud was a regular at Berlin Lake camping and boating.

He loved his community, where many times he fixed bikes for the children of the community to receive at Christmas time. He readily volunteered in his community. He was a former member of the Mahoning County Sheriff Department Dive Team on the Safety Committee. He was member of the National Guard. He was also a member of
Am Vets Post 44 in Struthers.

He especially enjoyed building and racing soap box cars with his grandson Matthew (Slaven) and watching his granddaughter Brittany (Best) perform in many venues. He never missed his grandchildren, Jesse (Collingwood) and Justin (Collingwood) at their gymnastic meets.

He leaves his daughter Cindy Best of Poland; son Jeffrey (Julie) of Poland, Jamie (Katie) of Columbus; grandchildren Matthew (Slaven), Brittany (Best), Jesse (Collingwood) and
Justin (Collingwood), all of whom he adored; his mother Rita of Poland; sister Myra (Franko) of Poland and nephew David Frank (Amy) of Columbus.

Bud was preceded in death by his father Melvin (Jake) Collingwood.
