MRS. BLACKMAN, 75, SUCCUMBS, AT BIRTHPLACE

Mrs. Ida E. Blackman, 75, resident of Davenport during the past 23 years, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday at her home, 2538 Rockingham road, the place in which she was born on Oct. 5, 1858. Death terminated an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Captain and Mrs. Andrew Coleman, the former being a pilot on the river boat of Artimus Lamb during the time of the rapids. On March 6, 1879, she was married here to D. S. Blackman, who preceded her in death 23 years ago. The couple left Davenport immediately after the marriage. Mrs. Blackman returning after her husband’s death.

She was of Baptist faith.

Surviving are two sons, Herbert Guy Blackman, Hillsdale, and Dewey Lee Blackman, Davenport; one sister, Mrs. Ella McGill, Davenport; two brothers, William Coleman, Davenport, and John Coleman, Colome, S. D.; seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

The body was taken to Runge’s mortuary. Funeral arrangements will be made later.
