Maxine Amelang, 83, of Sioux Falls SD, formerly of Ottumwa IA, died July 11, 2010 at her home in Sioux Falls, SD.
She was born March 8, 1927 i Ottumwa to Ed and Thelma Lawson Cole. She married Everett Amelang December 5, 1946 in Ottumwa IA. He preceded her in death September 27, 2002.
She had been a resident of Ottumwa IA until 1973, when she and her husband moved to Sioux Falls SD.
She enjoyed camping, going to drag races, going to the casinos and her family was everything to her.
Surviving are two sons, Charles "Eddie" Amelang and Jerry Amelang, both of Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters Nancy (Daryl) Barnett of Ottumwa and Cathy (Charlie) Walz of Freeman, SD: 5 grandchildren, Pamela (Kenneth) Malcom, Aaron (Holly) Barnett, Jason (fianc'e Jenny DesLauriers) Nevins, Dawn (Jake) Tysdal, Nathan Walz; 4 great-grandchildren, James Cain, Zachary Malcom, Haylie Nevins, and Logan Tysdal; 3 sisters, Helen Davis of Albion Ia, Anabelle Amelang of Ottumwa Ia, and Edna Davis of North Liberty Ia; a brother, Frank Cole of Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Amelang, a sister, Beverly Clawson; two brothers, Fred and Bill Cole.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
