There was a lot of family genealogy in a piece written by Brian Altonen, MPH, MS. That writing says that he was the third son of New York Lieut. Gov. Cadwallader Colden and his wife, Alice Christie. That writing also says that he was born in New York and that he married Elizabeth Ellison, daughter of Thomas Ellison of New Windsor, Orange County, New York in 1745 or 1746. (Another source says May 1744 which makes more sense.) It also says that he was a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War.
In addition to the children linked to the piece, there may have been a son John who died in March of 1826, a son William who died as an infant, and some other possible children.
