The funeral of the late Rear Admiral George Cochran, pay director of the United States Navy, who died on Monday, took place yesterday from his late residence, 512 Woodland Terrace. Members of the Loyal Legion, Grant Post, G. A. R., and Lodge No. 74., F. and A. M., attended in a body. Interment was made at Woodland Cemetery."
The son of Daniel J. and Sarah McMahan Cochran. The normally reliable 1900 census reports that George was born in April 1842 a date disputed by both the stone and the death record. His unmarried sister, Sarah J. ("Sallie") is buried in the same lot.
