Alvena Lucinda Coalwell, 77, of La Grande died Feb. 3 at Grande Ronde Hospital. At her request there will be no public services. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Coalwell was born Sept. 9, 1924, to Arthur and Bertha McGuire Williams in Denver, Colo. She came to La Grande in 1932 and in 1939 [sic-July 22, 1969] married Cleon C. Coalwell in Weiser, Idaho. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Aloy Collingwood, Katherine Roe and Michael Holmes, all of La Grande, Roylynn Ekxtrom of Renton, Wash., and Mary Ann Lowe of Albuquerque, N.M.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Claude Williams of Corvallis and other relatives. Three sisters and three brothers died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the Oregon Cancer Society or COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors) in care of Daniels Chapel, 1502 Seventh St.
