Opal Close, 90, of Centerville died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994, at the Putnam County Hospital.
She was born Nov. 26, 1903, in Cincinnati, the daughter of George and Aurela (VanBlaricom) Hamm.
She married Otto Franklin Close in Albia July 14,1924. He preceded her in death June 10, 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Lee Lesage and her husband, John, of Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, George Hamm and his wife, Glee, of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Lennie Cooper of Mystic; two sisters-in-law, Vernice Hamm of Centerville and Wilma Claare of Oregon; a brother-in-law, Artie Barrell of Centerville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl and Olan Hamm; a sister, Ethel Barrell; and an infant sister, Myrtle Mae Hamm.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She lived most of her life in Centerville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the Lange Funeral Home with Caleb Ball officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. There was a visitation on Sunday.
A memorial has been established and may be left at the funeral home.
