OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Dec 14 1994 "Obituaries: Viola Belongie"
IRON RIVER—Viola Belongie, 83, formerly of the Scott Lake area near Gaastra, died Dec. 12 at Iron County General Hospital.
She was born July 27, 1911 in Stambaugh Township, the daughter of the late Peter and Mae Clements and attended the Stambaugh Township schools. On Nov. 24, 1927 she married Lawrence Belongie at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gaastra and the couple made their home in the Scott Lake area. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1978. She moved to the Sunset Manor Apartments in Stambaugh in 1981 and later resided at the Iron River Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by a son, Lyle Belongie; three brothers; two sisters; and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by one son, Glenn Belongie of Manitowoc, Wis.; two daughters, Viola Stachowicz of Gaastra and Dixie Denis of Caspian; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by the Langenberg Funeral Home of Iron River.

Pallbearers for the Viola Belongie funeral service were grandsons, Ira Denis, Michael and Jim Belongie, Ben Stachowicz, Jr., Dan, Michael, Ricky and Chris Stachowicz. Organist Julie McDonald accompanied the St. Cecelia Church Choir on musical selections "Here I Am Lord" and "Ave Maria."
