"Perneta, daughter of Alfred and Martha Jacobs, was born in Sullivan county, Missouri, August 7, 1844. Departed this life at the home of her son near LaGrange, Mo., May 1, 1923, age 78 years, 8 months and 23 days.

She was united in marriage to Elias Clem at the age of sixteen. To this union eight children were born. Four of her children and her husband have preceded her to the grave. The children who survive her are: H. B. of Warland, Wyoming; Mrs. Mark Rose of Beggs, Oklahoma; A. B. of LaGrange; and R. L. of Humphreys, Mo.

At the age of 18 years she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, south, and lived a true, devoted Christian life. She was always ready and willing to help the needy in way she could. She had been a constant sufferer for the past three months and she bore the intense pain with Christian patience and fortitude. She was ready and anxious to go when the call came.

Those who mourn her going are one sister, three brothers, nineteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

The body arrived in Humphreys last Thursday and was taken to the Christian church, where short funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. O. Hunsaker. After which, the remains were taken to the Henry Cemetery and laid to rest." The Milan Republican (Milan, Missouri), May 10, 1923
