Rachel May Bell Buck, daughter of Shem W. and Mary M. Clark, was born May 6, 1870 in Republic County, Kansas., and died at the home of her daughter in Clay Center, Kansas., August 20 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 14 days. On May I0, 1888, she was united in marriage to Wilbert E. Buck of Republic county and two children were born to this union, Ina L. Else of Clay Center and Roy E. Buck of Odessa, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Buck farmed until 1904, when they moved to Concordia for three years, after which they moved to the Manning neighborhood and farmed. From 1910 until 1919 they lived in Kansas City, where they managed a grocery store, after which they lived on a farm near Excelsior Springs, Mo., until Mr. Buck’s death in February 16, 1938, Mrs. Buck went to Vining and lived with her sister, Mrs. Iva Clark, until she became ill August 5, 1947 and went to the home of her daughter, in Clay Center. She was a member of the Clifton Methodist church and attended church and Sunday school whenever possible. Besides her children, she is survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers, N. F. Clark and George F. Clark, both of Concordia; three sisters, Mrs. Iva Clark, Vining; Harriet Lanchester of Turlock, Cal., and Laura King of Kent, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held in Clifton with the Rev. Lester R. Fish, of Clay Center, in charge. Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery, Kansas City
