Our sweet, angel mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on November 21 surrounded by her loved ones. Each of us was able to spend time prior to her passing talking with her, sharing our favorite memories, and telling her good-bye. This was a tender mercy that we will be forever grateful for.

Elda, along with her twin sister Alta, was born on August 7, 1923 at her parents' home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She met her sweetheart, Howard John Christensen, while she was in high school. He joined the Army and spent many years away during World War 11. After he returned home they were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on October 31, 1945. They were sweethearts and best friends until his early death in 1980.

Elda worked hard all of her life. At the age of 13 she helped work in her father’s grocery store. For many years she was a secretary in Jordan School District. While working full-time and being an amazing wife and mother she took courses through BYU extension, and after many years completed her Bachelor’s Degree. She then attended UofU full-time to complete her Master’s Degree in Social Work. This was a great accomplishment especially for a woman of her generation. She began her career at LDS Social Services first working with unwed mothers, and later with adoptive parents. She blessed the lives of countless people through her love and service. She retired when she was 77 years old.

She left a legacy to her family, and taught us so much. She loved unconditionally, and we all felt of her love. She taught by example. We learned from her how to set our goals high, to work hard, and to serve others. Her daughter and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was generous and kind. As her daughter I considered her my best friend. What a blessing to her and to us that she lived for 93 years. Her mind was sharp and she had an amazing memory. She got her wish to live in her home until her passing. She always had a love of reading and learning, and over the last few years always had a book to read.

Elda is survived by her daughter Shari and son-in-law (who she called her son) Boyd Larsen, her grandchildren Brett (Lisa) Larsen, Cameron (Alyse) Larsen, and Alisha(Shaun) Arenas, and five great-grandchildren Avery, Logan, John, Elijah, and Kenzi. She is preceeded in death by her parents Clifton and Rhoda Clark, three sisters, Orpha, Violet, and Alta; one brother, Romaine, and her Sweetheart Howard.

We will all miss her dearly, but so happy for her to be reunited with her husband and other loved ones. This will be the first Thanksgiving she and Howard will spend together after being apart for 36 years. Her memory, love, and example will live with us forever.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 26th, 2016 at the Sharon Park 5th Ward, 225 E. 200 N. Orem, with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 – 10:45 am. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy.
