LEWISTOWN - Edward C. Clark Jr., 91, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, and formerly of 7th Street, Highland Park, Lewistown died at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1917, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Edward C. and A. Mary (Bulick) Clark Sr. His wife, Ellen (Peters) Clark, whom he married Feb. 20, 1936, survives.Also surviving are: children, Elaine Mowery and husband, Gary, of Jersey Shore, Dennis Clark and wife, Carolyn, of West Grove, Gordon A. Clark of Hastings, Fla., and Cindy Mann and husband, Hodges, of Fredericksburg, Va.; brothers, Donald T. Clark and wife, Eliner, of Fredericksburg, Va., and James C. Clark and wife, Lillian, of Phafftown N.C.; seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.He was a graduate of Lewistown High School and was granted a professional engineering degree. He was an industrial engineer, retiring from Standard Steel.
Early in life, he attended and taught Sunday School at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an officer in the Society of Engineers, an officer of the Zoning & Planning Commission in Burnham and was instrumental in obtaining Kish Pool.He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and family. He also was an avid Penn State fan.His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Valley View Chapel, with Rev. Leon Yoder and Rev. Jonas F. Hissong officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at Valley View.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
