Anton J. Cihak Rites at Dante
DANTE-Funeral Mass for Anton J. Cihak, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante with the Rev. Hal Barber of Tyndall officiating.
The rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Dante cemetery with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7319. The Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cihak was born May 17, 1895 at Tripp to Mr. and Mrs. John Cihak and died Aug. 14 at a Yankton hospital. He served in World War I and on Nov. 25, 1929 married Alice Sykora at Dante. He ran the elevator and also operated the poolhall at Dante and worked 14 years at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office in Lake Andes. He was mayor of Dante for 25 years.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. William J. (Patricia) Varilek, Omaha, and Mrs. Stanley (Rita) Schuch, Tyndall, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.
