Funeral to Be Held Wednesday - Here 11 Years.

Peter Church, aged 81, a vetaran of Sioux and civil wars, died yesterday at the Deaconess hospital of a complication of diseases. Mr. Church came to Washington from Watertown, Minn., 11 years ago. He purchased a large ranch near Oakesdale and removed to Spokane eight years ago. He is a member of the Masonic lodge here and the Reno Post, G. A. R.

He served in the Dakotas during the Sioux uprising and was wounded in a skirmish during the battle at Birch coulee. He never fully recovered from the wound and failed to survive an operation which was recently made necessary by a complication of ailments.

The home is at E 1023 Tenth avenue. The widow and a granddaughter, the wife of Dr. C. Clarence Hopkirk, surgeon for the Rock Island railroad, of Chicago, survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. The body is at the Smith & Co. undertaking rooms.

Enlisted as a Private on 9 August 1862 at the age of 24.
Enlisted in Company B, 6th Infantry Regiment Minnesota on 9 Aug 1862.

His Death Record is found at digitalarchives.wa.gov  as Mr. Peter Church His wife was born in Sweden. Her first name looks like Erika. Both of them are found in the 1910 census.
