Albert was instrumental in helping me locate my grandfather's birthplace. Albert and his wife visited Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. He provided me with a contact name and mailing address where I sent a letter of inquiry.

Albert Chudek, born in Monarch, Wyoming March 1, 1919 left the earth to reside in his heavenly home on July 8, 2009. Al came to Whatcom County at a very early age with his family as his father came to mine coal. At the age of 7, his father Paul Chudek was killed in the Bellingham Coal Mine leaving his mother Mary Lazar Chudek to raise Albert along with his sister Mary Francis (Poppe), and his brother Paul (deceased). He grew up on a farm in Whatcom County and learned the value of hard work...
