Deceased Name: Rhoda Christmas Bowling, 82.
Rhoda Christmas Bowling, 82, who owned and operated a thoroughbred horse-breeding farm in Croom, Md., and wrote a horse-racing column for the old Washington Times-Herald newspaper from 1938 to 1953, died of congestive heart failure Feb. 21 at her home in Croom.
Mrs. Bowling was born in Upper Marlboro. In addition to her writing, she also had raised thoroughbred horses most of her life. She maintained a horse farm, "Bellefield," until her death.
She was a member of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association and a past president of the D.C. chapter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She also belonged to the National Society of Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband, John D., died in 1972. There are no immediate survivors.
