Karen was born 18 August 1851 in Haree, Viborg, Denmark to Kristen Christensen and Ane Sophie Jensen or Jensdatter. She being the seventh of eight children. Karen being a twin, her twin brother died as a child. She had two brothers and five sisters. Two of the sisters died just after birth. They were twins. Her brother and sisters are Jens Peter Christensen, born in Nortrup, Viborg, Denmark, Johanne, and Ane Marie were the two twins that died, they were born in Haree where the rest of the family were born. She lived on a farm and raised milk cows, sheep and hogs. Her father was a blacksmith. As she grew older the demand fell on her to do most of the work milking the cows and taking care of the rest of the animals. She was also one of the fastest sheep shearers and milker on the farm.
Ole just out of the Danish Army found work on the farm of Karen's family. They were married on 23 August 1871. They accepted the gospel and came to America. They arrived in Salt Lake City late in September or the first of October 1882.
Karen died on April 4 1926 and was buried beside her husband Ole in the Koosharem Cementary. She was a very hard worker and did much to provide for her large family.
