Mrs. Laura Lee Hamilton, age 60 years, of Norman, Ok., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at her home.
Laura was born on January 26, 1955 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Paul E. and Loretta Crank Chinn. She was married on December 21, 1974 in Jefferson City, Mo. at St. Peter Catholic Church to Larry Gene Hamilton.
Laura was a 1973 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
Among various residences, moving from Japan in 1994 to Norman, Oklahoma, Laura's first priority was being a homemaker and raising her children. In 1997, encouraged by her family and friends, she opened a custom framing shop in Norman called “Hall of Frame” that provided an outlet for her creativity.
Her main passion in life was taking care of her family. She loved playing with her three grandchildren and spending time with her family at Grand Lake. She was naturally a creative person who enjoyed home improvement projects, making adventure in everyday things, traveling, and helping others.
She will be remembered as a selfless, loving wife, mother and best friend. She never knew a stranger, just friends she had not met yet.
Survivors include: her husband of forty years, Larry Hamilton; two daughters, Leighann Bailie and her husband Bobby of The Woodlands, Tx. and Lindsay Hamilton of Norman, Ok.; one sister, Paula McCurren of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Bruce Chinn and his wife Kathy and Wayne Chinn and his wife Janet, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; her mother and father-in-law; James and Anita Hamilton of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Marguerite and Eloise Bailie and Maddox Hamilton; two nieces, Robyn Freeman and Kara Chinn; and six nephews, Rob H. McCurren IV, Bryan Chinn, Matt Chinn, Austin Chinn, Tyler Chinn, and Nik McCurren.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and one uncle, Ernest Crank.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Freeman Chapel at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 with her visitation immediately following from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Freeman Mortuary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 St. Peter Catholic Church with the Reverend Colin Franklin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Hamilton Grandchildren Educational Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
