Carol Joy Young (Chiles)
Carol Joy Young, 68, of Melba, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 5, 2009, following a battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. S., Nampa – 466-3545. Pastor Chris Hinderliter will officiate. Burial will follow at the Melba Cemetery. The family will greet loved ones and friends at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Thursday evening.
Carol Joy was born on Sept. 2, 1940, in Salem, Ore., the daughter of Melvin and Louise Chiles. At an early age, she and her family moved to Nampa, where she was reared and educated.
In 1955, she married Sam Hensley. Together they had three children, Curtis, Debbie and Scott.
In 1974, Carol went to work at Mott's Flower Shop in Nampa. She really enjoyed working with flowers and arrangements and was very talented at it. She became close friends with JoAnn Bow and has remained close ever since.
She later went to work at Metalbestos in Nampa until she met and married C.W. "Bill" Young from Melba in 1979. She has since resided at and helped run the dairy farm.
She enjoyed the farm life and sleepovers from all the grandkids. Family was important to her and she made sure she brought everyone together on a regular basis. Carol also enjoyed her extended family and friends and visits with her life-long buddy, Gracie Haynes. She enjoyed painting until she became ill.
In recent days Carol especially looked forward to and cherished her car rides with the love of her life, Bill, and seeing the changes of spring that were beginning to happen.
Carol is survived by her husband, Bill Young, Melba; two sons, Curt and his wife, Jerry Hensley and Scott Hensley, all of Nampa; her daughter, Debbie and her husband, Richard Garza, Middleton; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six step grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. All will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by father, Melvin Chiles, her mother, Louise Giese and an infant grandson, J.J. Stuart.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Stephanie Hodson; the staff at Caldwell Care Center; St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Center; and especially to Debbie from the XL Hospice Program.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Nalen Fund at St. Alphonsus Cancer Center, 1055 N. Curtis Rd., Boise, ID 83706 or you may call 367-2759 to make a contribution.
God saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around her
And whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer
And saw her fade away,
Although we loved her dearly
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
