Death of Mrs. Mary A. Childs
Mrs. Mary A. Childs died at the home of her son W.F. Childs in Zebulon Wednesday night after a few days illness of lagrippe. She was born in Monroe county in 1831 being 79 years old at her death. She was first married to William Williams, a brother of Messrs. David and Theo Williams of this county, who died and she later married James F. Childs, who died in 1886.
Four children survive her: Mrs. Sarah Horne, of Cochran; W.F. Childs, of Zebulon; Whit Childs and Mrs. Lula Childs Hart (wife of John B Hart), of Moultrie. She joined the church when quite young and lived a devoted Christian life.
She was a member of the Zebulon Methodist church at her death, from which the funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. W.H. Speer yesterday afternoon and the interment [was] at the church cemetery. Friends of the family of the deceased extend them sympathy in their sorrow.
