She was born on December 5, 1943 in Terre Haute the daughter of Robert and Geraldine (Coates) Chester and attended Gerstmeyer High School.
Linda loved fishing, bingo, and especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are four children, James Phifer, Jr., Oklahoma, Mark Phifer, Terre Haute, Madonna Fields, Brazil, and Maurice Taggart, Jr., Terre Haute; two step-children, Sherry Bland, Terre Haute and Jeff Bland, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Kayla Taggart, Harley Marshall, Jr., Madison Taggart, Jessica Gray, Brandi Sims, Joshua Fields, and Ashley Fields; three brothers, Larry Chester (wife, Betty), Muncie, Bill Chester (wife, Helen), Massachusetts, and John Auten (wife, Kathy), Muncie; her sister, Sharon Butts, Terre Haute; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Mart Waggoner, Terre Haute.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Chester; her mother and step-father, Geraldine and Ernest Auten; and her husband, Ronnie Bland.
