Joshua was survived by his son; Kaiden Jude Chávez, father; Mark Chávez (companion Josie Valdéz); mother Pamela Chávez (fiancée Alvin Flowers); brother Jonathan Chávez (wife Georgianne Bird-Chávez); sister Janaisa Chávez (fiancée Daniel Maestas); grandparents Fermin and Marylou Chávez; nieces: Aria Chávez, Taliah and Markia Maestas; nephew Ricardo Vigil; mother of his son, Sandra Maestas; and several aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Public visitation and Rosary were on August 4, 2013 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial was at La Igleisa de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz. Pallbearers: Daniel Maestas, Kenneth Gonzales, Jesse Avila, Lionel Martinez, Michael Delvo, and Edward Gallegos. Honorary pallbearers: Taliah and Markia Maestas, Aria Chávez, Ricardo Vigil, Maryssa and Isaiah Chávez, and Rudy Martinez.
