Pioneer Passes at Age of 85

Byron Chase, 85, lifelong Ogden resident, 1140 Adams, died Wednesday at nine-thrity p. m. in a local hospital of causes incident to age.

Mr. Chase was born in Ogden, April 3, 1860, a son of Elisha Wells and Harriet Barker Chase. He was a fruit grower and for many years was employed by the Ogden Rapid Transit Co. as conductor. He was a member of the L. D. S. Twenty - first ward. He married Rose Belle Sawyer, July 3, 1884 in Salt Lake City.

Survivors include his widow, three sons, Frank B. Chase, Ogden; Harold E. Chase, Alhambra, Calif; and E. Herbert Chase, U. S. army in Germany; three daughters, Mrs. Doris E. Richards, Ogden; Mrs. Marjorie Pomeroy, Fontenelle, Wyo; and Mrs. Belva Richardson, Burley, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Miles L. Jones, Ogden; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at two p. m. in the Twenty-first chapel, Bishop Edwin Baird officiating. Interment will be in the Ogden city cemetery, directed by the mortuary, 3408 Washington.
