Lillian R. (Asselin) Charron, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at a local nursing home. Lillian was born on Sept. 2, 1925 in Chicopee, MA, the daughter of the late Arthur and Matilda (Beaulac) Asselin. Lillian was proud of her French-Canadian heritage and was a faithful communicant of Assumption Church and a past member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She worked for a time at the American Bosch. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and in her spare time she tended to her beautiful flowers in her garden and helped clean the church with her bingo buddy, her sister Lorraine. She loved to cook and welcomed anyone who popped in for a visit always offering tasty treats. Lillian is survived by her daughter Theresa Mitrowski and her husband James of Holyoke. Lillian was the beloved wife of 67 years to the late Roland Charron. She was predeceased by her dear children, Lorraine Bernier and Michael Charron and also by her siblings Arthur Asselin, Jeanette Campbell and Irene Valego. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Marchand formerly of Chicopee and her grandchildren Matthew Mitrowski, Katherine Charron, Timothy Charron and Nicholas Bernier in addition to her great granddaughter Kloee and several nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to thank all of the doctors, Holyoke Hospital and nursing home staff for all the care and comfort they provided. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee. Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Libra Service in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church (104 Springfield St.) at 11 a.m. followed by burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery.
