He was born March 5, 1924, in Wood County, a son of the late Alonzo and Mary Alice Goodman Charlton.
He was a retired painter with the Local Union 1144. He attended several area churches.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbra Allen (Henry) of Parkersburg, and Sharon Wigal (Bill) of Mineral Wells; sons, Alvin Charlton (Pam) and Alonzo Charlton, both of Parkersburg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Charlton; daughters, Donna Joy and Mary Hardee; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 3, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
