Funeral services for J.T. Chapman, 74, of Waynesboro, will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Whit Lewis and Rev. Sidney Hill officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.
After the funeral service, interment will follow at Chapparal Baptist Cemetery in Wayne County.
Born on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1936, he was a pumper/guager with Hunt Oil Company. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army. He died on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Southern Living Specialty Care Residency.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Jean Chapman of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and William Cran of Waynesboro and Michelle and Eddy Keyes of Waynesboro; three stepsons and their spouses, Grover and Kathy Hollingshead of Waynesboro, James and Sue Hollingshead of Waynesboro and David and Kim Hollingshead of Waynesboro; a stepdaughter and her spouse, Kathy and Rusty Robinson of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Will and Jacqueline Cran of Waynesboro, Meagan Cran of Waynesboro, Jerry and Ashley Pitts of Waynesboro, Josh Hollingshead of Waynesboro and Paige Hollingshead of Waynesboro; and a great-grandchildren, Jon Michael Pitts of Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by his father, P.L. "Buck" Chapman; his mother, Myrtle Chapman; a brother, Thomas "Dyke" Chapman; and two sisters, Margie Lindsey and Doris Lindsey.
Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro is in charge of arrangements.
