Mrs. Mary Kirkland Chaplin, 94, died Friday morning (June 6, 2003) at Clinch Healthcare in Homerville following a long illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was married to the late William M. (Bill) Chaplin and was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles L. Chaplin and her parents, Alfred L. Kirkland and Mary Etta Barber Kirkland.
She was a member of the Jamestown Baptist Church.
The survivors include a son, W. H. (Dub) Chaplin (wife Louise) of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Mayvis Kirkland of Waycross; a brother, Josh Kirkland of Richmond Hill; a granddaughter, Melody Durden (husband Tom) of Tallahassee, Fla.; a grandson, Rev. Robin Chaplin (wife Shirley) of Albany; nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
