Carl was a farmer. He and Sadie first lived at Glen Cove in Rockland, Maine, and in 1925 they moved to her parents farm in Thomaston, where they lived until Sadie's death in 1943. While in Thomaston he carried on a dairy business, selling milk and butter in Rockland until 1955. In 1954 Carl and his second wife went to California and the next year they ran a motel in Arizona, later returning to Maine. Carl later resided in Owls Head, Maine. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War One and was a member of the Williams-Brazier Post of the American Legion in Thomaston, Maine; a member of Knox Lodge IOOF of Rockland, Maine; and a member of the Owls Head Baptist Church. Carl had no children.
