Born in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late William Eugene and Ella Rowe Dukes Chandler.
Mr. Chandler retired from the United States Postal Service in Greenville. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attached to the First Marine Division. He participated in the successful invasion of Guadacanal Island, America's first offensive following Pearl Harbor.
He is survived by one sister, May Chandler Tacoma, of La Mesa, Calif.; and one brother, A. Lee Chandler, of Darlington.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Charles E. Fritz officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Matthias Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 815, Easley, SC 29641. - The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
