Oscar Champine, 75, of 135 Burgess Rd., died Saturday afternoon at Putnam Memorial Hospital. He was born in Arlington Oct 4, 1884, son of the late Frank and Isabel Cross Champine.
His schooling was received in Arlington. And he worked for Holden Leonard Co., as a spinner for many years. He also was in defense work in Bridgeport, Conn., before he retired in 1945, due to ill health.
He was fond of hunting and fishing.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Milton (Madeline) Surdam; two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Ora (Florence) Bogel, Bennington; Mrs. Ralph (Josephine) Gardiner, Troy, N.Y.; Arnold Champine of Bennington and Everett Champine, Troy, N.Y.; a half sister, Mrs. Louis (Catherine) Foster, Bennington; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; seveal nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 pm with the Rev. H. Glenn Payne officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today.
