Saltillo - Paul R. Chamblee, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Dec. 3, 1929, to the late Paul Robert and Otis Robinson Chamblee. He was a graduate of Tremont High School and a 1953 graduate of Mississippi State University with an engineering degree. He lived in Saltillo on Birmingham Ridge for about 20 years. He was plant manager of MTD in Verona prior to his retirement. He was a member of the MSU Alumni and enjoyed attending MSU ball games. He was a member of the Florence Country Club in Florence, Ala., and enjoyed playing golf. He was a wonderful Christian man, a loving father and grandfather, and a best friend to everyone who knew him.

Services were Oct. 27 at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with burial in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors included one daughter, Patti Kay Chamblee; two sons, Paul R. "Pete" Chamblee Jr. (Connie) and Matthew Pap Chamblee (Sarah); three grandchildren, Hannah Rose Chamblee, Wes Chamblee and Will Chamblee; three stepgrandsons, Matthew Bray, Patrick Bray and Christopher Bray.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Leigh "Rose" Chamblee; and his parents.
