ALFRED MAURICE CHAMBERS, resident of Moscow and former resident of Somerville, died Sunday, October 4, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Janie J. Anderson, in Memphis. He was 78 and died following an illness of several months.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Somerville Church of Christ with Parker French, minister, officiating. Burial was in the Somerville City Cemetery with Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chambers was a native of Rossville and was a longtime resident of the Somerville and Moscow area. He was married March 9, 1932 to the former Miss Cassie Taylor, who survives. Mr. Chambers was a retired carpenter and contractor and was formerly associated with his son in the operation of Chambers Pit Barbecue in Moscow before his retirement. He was a member of the Somerville Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs Janie Joyce Anderson and Miss Charlotte Chambers, both of Memphis; two sons, Shirley a. Chambers of Moscow and Calvin G. Chambers of Memphis; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family request the memorials be made to the Somerville Church of Christ or to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
