Obituary Mrs Amanda Albertson transcribed from Seymour Leader 3/29/1917:

An old settler of Wayne County. Mrs Amanda Albertson, died at her home at Kniffen , Wayne County,IN on Mar 17 and was buried at Seymour,IA Mar 19.

The Alberson family consisting of Rev Garrett Albertson and his wife and sons, Howell and George and Mrs Amanda Chaffin Alberson, the wife of Howell, moved to Wane County in 1856, arriving there on the 7th of August. They bought the land on which they located in Walnut twnshp at $4.25 per acre. It was interesting to hear Mrs Albertson tell of them going to Bonaparte to mill and hauling their good and supplies from Keokuk. The land is still owned by the grandchildren of Garrett Albertson.

Mrs Albertsons maiden name was Amanda Alice Chaffin, She was born Oct 4 1835 at East Union Wayne County,OH. Howell died Sep 5 1884. Amanda lived on the home farm except for 2 years spent in Corydon. She was a quiet unassuming Christian woman with a rich experience and one that made everyone welcome at her home. Six children survive her, Mrs. Irene Rea(Corydon)Garrett C, Stanton and Kate living at home farm, Mrs Clara Holliday and Mrs May Murray who live nearby. Amanda is survived by a brother Gladwin Chaffin of Hutchinson,KS and sister Mrs R.B. Heller of Napoleon,OH.
