Edward L. Chacon, age 71, of Santa Fe passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2011. Edward was born in Albuquerque and was a lifelong area resident. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Penny (Copoulos) Chacon who passed away in in 2009. Mr. Chacon was a United States Navy veteran and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Master's degree in Education. Edward taught special education for many years in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe Public Schools. Additionally, he was a former owner of Aztec Home Schooling and a member of St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church. Edward is survived by his daughters, Natalia Chacon of Santa Fe, Charlotte Chacon of Carson, NV, Cindy Burdett (Steve) of Tome, NM, son, Edward J. Chacon (Jo Lynn) of Tome, NM, brothers, Teddy Chacon of Albuquerque, Orlando Chacon of Phoenix, sister, Dorothy Ann Lothrop of Oregon, two grandsons, Duncan Robinson and Kyle Chacon, three granddaughters, Ambrosia Chacon-Saavedra, Annaleigh and Olivia Burdett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 11, 2011 at St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church with graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque.
