Mr. Cavanaugh Funeral Services Held Monday

Funeral services for James Barney Cavanaugh, Sr., 41, were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church conducted by the Rev. Kevin Reid. Interment was in Bassfield Catholic Cemetery with Colonial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cavanaugh died June 7 at 9:50 p.m. at University Hospital, Jackson, from injuries received in a one-car accident on Highway 13 N on May 27. He was taken to Marion County General Hospital and then transferred to University Hospital on June 5.

A native of Marion county, he was born May 24, 1934. He had been employed at McNeese Motor Company for 15 years. Mr. Cavanaugh was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Balzie Sanford Cavanaugh; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Earl King of Columbia; one son, James Cavanaugh, Jr., of Columbia; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Cavanaugh of Bassfield; four brothers, George Cavanaugh, Lawrence Cavanaugh, Maurice Cavanaugh, all of Bassfield, and John William Cavanaugh of Jackson; three sisters, Mrs. Davis Burt of Silver Creek, Mrs. John Divene of Canton, and Miss Christine Cavanaugh of Jackson.

Pallbearers were Tony Beard, Billy McNeese, Randy Russell, Mims Russell, Robert Benjamin, and Phil Howard.
