Woman dies in Westfield fire
An 82-year-old woman died in a house fire Wednesday morning in Westfield. Gaynell C. Booth was pulled from the blazing home near 196th Street and U.S. 31 by firefighters, but she died at the scene. The cause of the fire, which began about 3 a.m., is under investigation.

Westfield woman dies in house fire
Westfield Firefighters found an elderly woman dead inside a burning house Tuesday morning.
Fire crews arrived at 3:23 a.m. at the home at 19501 Ethan Allen Lane, located in the Morgan Woods subdivision just east of U.S. 31, off 196th Street.
The victim was identified as Gaynell Booth, 82. The Hamilton County coroner's office later determined that Booth died of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters found her in a bedroom on the first floor, John Barrett, a spokesman for the Westfield Fire Department, said.
Crews had the fire under control by about 5 a.m. The cause is still under investigation.

Gaynell C. "Gay" Booth, 82, of Westfield, passed away November 29, 2011. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 9, 1929 to William and Winifred (Henderson) Cavanagh. Her father was well known in the community where she grew up, serving as past president of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Gay later attended University of Arizona and was a graduate of Michigan State University.
She worked at G.T.E. in accounts receivable for the entire U.S. and later became the head of purchasing for Graham Electronics, retiring in 2010. Gay was an animal lover with a shining personality. She will be missed by all who knew her. Gay was preceded in death by son, Gerald "Jerry" Booth. She is survived by one son, Scott Booth.

Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
