The obituary for Russell Cauvel in the Oil City Derrick, page 8, dated 27 Aug 1917, states that he died at the home of his daughter in Oak Hill, PA and that funeral arrangements were not complete. The death certificate, added by Mr. Wedding, verifies the place of death but states that Mr. Cauvel was interred in the Franklin Cemetery.
The tombstone which was found in the Cherrytree Presbyterian Church Cemetery and pictured in this memorial, is obviously newer and has the names of several people on it. The caretaker informed Mr. Wedding that several stones belonging to graves that were up against the church originally were moved in the 1950's to the corner of the cemetery where this marker is located.

Franklin Cemetery records show he was buried there 29 Aug 1917 and is marked "Remove", but gives no date of removal to Cherrytree.
