Absalom A. Caudle resided in Anson Co. where he enlisted at age 34 on May 10, 1862 at Wadesboro, into Co K, 26th NC for 3 years. Mustered in at Camp Johnson June 19, 1862. Name appears on a Receipt Roll for clothing Mar 3, 1864. Company Muster Roll dated July 7, 1864 states he was absent, in hospital wounded. Company Muster Roll dated Sept & Oct., 1864 states that he was absent without leave since July 15, 1864, and last paid Dec 31, 1863 by Capt. Young. Company Muster Roll dated May & June 1865, states that he was absent without leave since July 15, 1864, and last paid Dec 31, 1863 by Capt. Young. Name appears on a Receipt Roll for clothing dated ?? 1865. Name appears on a Roll of Honor for the 26th Regt. NC Troops. The updated version of the NC Troops books says that he was wounded at Gettysburg July 1-3, 1863.

1st married Ellen Brewer.
2nd married Nancy Brewer.
Both were daughters of John Brewer, Jr. and Martha Edwards.

Grandson of Absalom Caudle (Revolutionary War veteran) and Elizabeth Maness.
