Catherine (Caswell) Backie, 90, of Cheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Cheboygan Health Care Center.
She was born in Cheboygan on Oct. 25, 1911, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Tallman) Caswell. She married Lloyd Backie, who was chief engineer on the Great Lakes. He preceded her in death many years ago. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Harold "Casey" Caswell.
Catherine is survived by a brother, Russ Caswell of Cheboygan; and several nieces and nephews.
In her younger days, Catherine enjoyed traveling.
Funeral services took place Friday, at the Nordman Funeral Home in Cheboygan with the Rev. Bill McClure of St. James Episcopal Church officiating. Interment took place at Pinehill Cemetery.
