Lewis W. "Bud" Caswell, 75, Sugar Creek, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005.
Mr. Caswell was born on June 22, 1930, to Lewis and Clara Caswell in Independence, and was a lifelong area resident. He had been a machinist for Allis-Chalmers, retiring in 1981. Bud was a loving father and grandfather, and enjoyed helping out his neighbors when there was a need. His love and dedication will be greatly missed. Bud was a member of Mount Washington Baptist, and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1958. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and a son, James.
He is survived by two sons, Steven M. Caswell of Kansas City, Mo., and Christopher V. Caswell of Warsaw, Mo.; a sister, Clara Ann Claypole of Orrick, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Caswell, Matthew Caswell, Kelli Caswell and Alexander Wilson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-7900. Burial will be in Mount Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to a Kansas City area hospice program.
