Edward O. Casias, 90, of Cimarron, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, in Raton. Edward O. Casias was born Oct. 17, 1915, to Manuel and Elizabeth Casias in Sweetwater, N.M. He worked as a welder on United States Naval ships during WW II in San Francisco.
Upon his return to Cimarron, he was employed by George Turner Manufacturing Company as a welder on livestock chutes for the surrounding areas. After the closure of this company, he was employed by the WS Ranch where he worked and retired as a cowboy in 1980.
Edward O. Casias is survived by Jane Casias, his beloved wife of 53 years. He is also survived by children Edward R. Casias and wife Cecelia of Albuquerque, Carlton and wife Gloria Davis of Amarillo, Texas, George and wife Mary Ann Medina of Albuquerque, Anthony and wife Margie Martinez of Cimarron, Jimmy and wife Shirley Casias of Amarillo, Eddie and wife Robin Casias of Amarillo, Henry and wife Patsy LeDoux of Littleton, Colo., and Gilbert and wife Beverly Casias of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Casias of Trinidad, and sister-in-law Margie Casias of Raton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our great husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle will be missed and forever loved and remembered in our hearts.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be recited Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cimarron. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m., also at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cimarron with Father George Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Cimarron.
Arrangements and a celebration of love for Edward O. Casias are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
