Mrs. J. M. Callender Buried Saturday
Services for Mrs. Emaline Case Callender, widow of J. M. Callender, who died late Thursday night in St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis, were held at Friendship Baptist Church in Lincoln County at 3 Saturday afternoon. The Rev. F. L. Coker officiated. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Callender, 83, was a resident for most of her life, of a community about 5 miles west of Brookhaven, but for the past 8 years had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Foster, the latter, her daughter, in Memphis. She retained her membership in Friendship Church.
Mrs. Callender's loving interest in, and ambition for her children were attested by their attainments and lives of usefulness in their respective communities.
She was exemplary in her family relationships and kind and helpful as a friend and neighbor.
Mrs. Callender leaves her daughter, Mrs. E. L. Foster of Memphis; and five sons, Walter C. Callender, long identified with newspaper activities of Columpia; P. B. Callender of Beaumont, Texas; Dr. I. G. Callender of Edwards; J. E. Callender of Columbus, Ohio; and Winston Callender of Memphis. A sister, Mrs. L. D. Posey of Hammond, La., and two brothers, D. B. Case of McComb and Anderson Case of Brookhaven are other survivors.
