Frederick Melvin Case, 80, formerly of Arkansas City, died Tuesday November 5, 2002 in Yuma, Arizona. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 9, 2002 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Rick Nelson of the First American Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday November 8, 2002 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
Born June 3, 1922 at Arkansas City, Frederick was the son of Wesley and Lena (Robinson) Case. He grew up and attended school in Arkansas City. On June 1, 1941 He married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Barton, in Winfield. He was employed by the state of Kansas as a grain sampler. He entered the Marine Corps in 1943 and served in Japan. He witnessed the raising of the flag on Mt. Surabachi in February of 1945.
After returning from WWII he resumed his job with the state. The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1957 and lived there until 1965 when they moved to California. He purchased a farm where he enjoyed his hobby of growing wheat. They maintained a home in California until moving to Yuma, Arizona in 1997. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Frederick is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home; one son, Fred and his wife, Virginia of Norco, CA.; one daughter, Charlene Edmonson and her husband, Al, of Roy, UT.; three brothers, Robert Case of Kansas City, Lawrence Case of Dallas, and Gene Case; Brother and sister in-law, Elmo and Helen Barton; two grandsons; three granddaughters; two great grandsons; six great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carolyn Pike Marsh; sister in-law Ruth; and one grandson Keith Dobbs.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Parkinson's and Similar Diseases.

Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
