Amelia A. (Krych) Carver, 96, Kokomo, passed away, at home, on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 6:08am. She was born on August 3, 1919, in Elwood, the daughter of the late Walter S. and Ella (Haron) Krych. Amelia has been a member of St. Joan of Arc since her family moved here from Elwood to Kokomo when she was a young girl.

On April 10, 1948 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo, she married John H. Carver, and he survives.

Amelia was a 1937 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Kokomo Business College. She had been a secretary for Pure Oil Company, Shell American, and Schwartz Company.

Amelia had a special place in her heart for the Poor Clares. She had served St. Joan of Arc Parish in many voluntary roles such as: past president of the Alter Rosary Society, a seamstress for altar cloths and stoles for the priests, and the prayer chain coordinator. She was also an employee in charge of running the kitchen for both Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick School.

Amelia is survived by her husband, John H. Carver, Kokomo; sons, John H. Carver Jr., Bringhurst, James R. (Betty) Carver, Kokomo, and Thomas A. (Mona) Carver, South Carolina, along with seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, an infant brother, and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial May 17, 2016, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, with the Rev. Father Matt Arbuckle officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road,
